Help those in need
What's your background?
With years of experience in the nonprofit sector, our primary focus as an organization has been developing and implementing innovative housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness. Our mission has always been "to create a pathway home through shelter, affordable housing, and community education." Our organizational interests lie in sustainable community development and creating safe, supportive environments that empower individuals and their families to regain stability and independence. We are particularly passionate and proud of a new project we are unveiling called "A Step Up" Village here at Front Steps, as it represents a tangible step towards providing secure, sustainable housing for those in need in our community. Since its inception in 1997, Front Steps has been a pillar in Austin, responding to the growing homelessness crisis and providing pathways home for those in need.
What will you be doing?
Some creative ideas we have focus on meeting the individuals' needs and where they are by doing local outreach. This includes providing necessary items such as bottled water, cooldown towels, clean socks, and possibly meals (depending on focus). Especially during the scorching Texas summers, when temperatures can easily exceed 100 degrees. As a solution-focused organization, offering potentially life-saving items to any needy community member, particularly those experiencing homelessness, is crucial. We are committed to distributing over 20 boxes of new socks, totaling over 3,700 pairs! We already possess these and can include them in our outreach. Clean socks are essential as folks experiencing homelessness don't have shoes, and those who do in Texas are constantly walking and sweating in them. Lack of resources to shower or clean up regularly makes clean socks an essential we found from asking our unhoused neighbors. How excellent are these opportunities we have to serve?
Time you can commit
Depending on funding, we can allocate 2-3 hours per week or month. Currently, the grant amount would cover one day of direct community outreach, bringing essential items to the people who need them most. This focused effort ensures that our resources are maximized to make a tangible impact on the lives of those in our community.
Why you care about Vrbs?
We believe we are a good fit for this grant due to our extensive community outreach background and commitment to addressing homelessness through innovative and practical solutions. Our team includes employees connected to the cryptocurrency market who are passionate about bridging the gap between Web3 and Web 2 ("real world.") Promoting community activism through connections with a global marketplace like cryptocurrency can allow users to see the real-time impact of their involvement. Since 1997, Front Steps has been at the forefront of combating homelessness in Austin, and this grant will enable us to continue being a cornerstone of support and hope in our community. AND specifically, Vrbs is truly connecting with its community and building a real community. Implementing that care into calls of action internationally will develop into a beautiful thing. Blessings
